LSU Women's Basketball: A Preview of the 2023-24 Season
Meet the Tigers
The LSU Tigers women's basketball team is poised for another successful season in 2023-24. With a talented roster led by reigning SEC Player of the Year Angel Reese, the Tigers are looking to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Key Players
Reese is the heart and soul of the LSU team. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 23.4 points and 15.2 rebounds per game last season, leading the SEC in both categories. She is a dominant force inside, with a soft touch around the rim and the ability to score from anywhere on the court.
Joining Reese in the starting lineup are guards Khayla Pointer and Alexis Morris. Pointer is a dynamic playmaker who can score and distribute the ball, while Morris is a sharpshooter who can knock down shots from beyond the arc.
Outlook
LSU is ranked No. 5 in the preseason AP Poll, and for good reason. The Tigers have a lot of talent and experience, and they are led by one of the best players in the country in Reese. If they can stay healthy and play to their potential, LSU has the potential to make a run to the Final Four.
The Tigers open their season on November 7th against McNeese State. They will face a tough non-conference schedule before opening SEC play in January. LSU will be looking to avenge their loss to South Carolina in last year's SEC Tournament championship game.
