11-Year-Old Girl and 34-Year-Old Woman Sustain Injuries
Police Apprehend Suspect in Leicester Square
LONDON, Aug. 12, 2024 – A man has been arrested in relation to a violent stabbing incident that occurred in central London's Leicester Square on Friday, Aug. 12, 2024. The incident resulted in severe injuries to an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman.
According to Metropolitan Police, officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the area shortly before 6 pm. Upon arrival, they discovered an 11-year-old girl with multiple stab wounds and a 34-year-old woman with a single stab wound. Both victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A witness at the scene, a shop security guard, recounted how he intervened in the incident and disarmed the alleged attacker. The man was then detained by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The victims' current conditions are unknown. Police have cordoned off the area and are conducting a thorough investigation.
