Harris to Pay Tribute at Funeral Services in Houston

Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Houston on Thursday to attend the funeral services for former U.S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, who passed away recently. Jackson Lee, a Democrat, served in the House of Representatives for nearly three decades, representing the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

In the House, Jackson Lee was known as a vocal advocate for her constituents and a tireless champion of social justice. She served on several key committees, including the House Judiciary Committee and the House Budget Committee.

Harris, who served in the U.S. Senate with Jackson Lee, said she was deeply saddened by her passing. "Sheila Jackson Lee was a force of nature," Harris said in a statement. "She was a tireless advocate for her constituents and a true champion of justice."

Harris is expected to deliver a eulogy at Jackson Lee's funeral service, which will be held at the Houston Baptist University Chapel.
