Early Life and Amateur Career
Oleksandr Usyk was born in Simferopol, Ukrainian SSR, on January 17, 1987. Usyk began boxing at the age of 15. He quickly rose through the ranks of amateur boxing, winning the Ukrainian national championship in 2006 and 2007. Usyk also competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he won a gold medal in the heavyweight division.
Professional Career
Usyk made his professional debut in 2013. He quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division, winning his first 15 fights by knockout.
