Anton Du Beke's mother has been suffering from a 'serious' ongoing health issue

The Strictly Come Dancing star broke down in tears on last night's Lorraine show as he opened up about his mother's 'serious' health battle.

Anton, who has been open about his mother Ascension's health in the past, explained that his 83 year old mother is battling an ongoing health condition.

Speaking to host Kate Garraway, he said: "You know my mum's been a little bit poorly recently, she's 83 now and she has had a few issues with her health.

"Luckily, touch wood, they're all treatable and things are getting better. But again it makes me really appreciate the time I have with her."
